Fatal Columbus car crash death of Kamari Gamble – Obituary
Kamari Gamble, an 18-year-old from Talbotton, tragically died following a car crash involving a Georgia State Patrol officer on Wednesday night in Columbus, Georgia. The incident occurred on Georgia State Route 22 near mile marker 14 after a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver was performed by law enforcement.
According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, Gamble was pronounced dead at 11:43 p.m. at a Columbus hospital. Georgia State Patrol reported that troopers initiated a traffic stop on Gamble’s vehicle, a Toyota Camry, for driving without insurance at 10:54 p.m. When the driver fled, a pursuit ensued northeast on Macon Road, culminating in the PIT maneuver. The Camry veered into the median and collided with a tree.
Law enforcement stated that Gamble attempted to avoid the maneuver by braking aggressively and veering during the chase. Troopers discovered him unresponsive at the scene. It was later confirmed that Gamble had outstanding warrants for failing to appear on a drug possession charge.
The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
