Fatal Ohio crash claims the lives of Karan Singh and Harleen Kaul – Obituary

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a devastating collision on Interstate 77 that resulted in the deaths of Karan Singh and Harleen Kaul on Thursday.

The tragic incident occurred when a white 2020 Freightliner semi-truck, driven by Singh, veered across the median into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a red semi-truck in the northbound lanes. Both vehicles were consumed by flames, making it impossible to identify the red truck’s make and model.

Singh, along with his passenger, Kaul, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the red truck, Sukhginder Singh, survived and was transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries by United EMS.

A coordinated response involved multiple agencies, including fire departments from Cambridge, Byesville, Liberty, and Cassell Station, as well as the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management Agency. Environmental concerns brought the EPA to the scene, while ODOT managed traffic disruptions. Bill’s Towing and Road Warriors Towing facilitated the removal of the vehicles.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
