Kyle Kiefel, 38, was fatally shot on Sunday, December 1, 2024, near North Sixth Street and East Yakima Avenue. The Yakima County Chief Deputy Coroner confirmed that Kiefel succumbed to a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital, where he later died. The Yakima Police Department is investigating the incident, which marks the 15th homicide in the city this year. A “moment of blessing” ceremony will be held Thursday at the location of the shooting. Kiefel’s family has started a GoFundMe for his funeral expenses.
