Fatal Dayton pedestrian crash death of Phillip Drozd – Obituary
Authorities are asking the public for assistance in identifying a driver who fatally hit a man while he was crossing the street last month in Dayton. The victim, Phillip Drozd, aged 67, was struck by a black Saturn SUV around 6:20 p.m. on November 25 at the intersection of North Keowee and East Third streets.
The vehicle was heading north on North Keowee Street when it hit Drozd, who had started crossing the road when the light signaled “walk,” but changed to “do not walk” while he was still halfway across. Drozd was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver involved in the crash fled the scene without leaving any identifying information. Investigators are seeking help from anyone who might have seen the incident. Surveillance footage shows a witness in an older green Jeep Wrangler talking with the suspect for a while after the crash.
Anyone who may know the identity of the suspect is encouraged to contact Detective Chris Metzler at 937-333-1359. This incident marks the 14th deadly crash and 18th fatality
