Fatal Whitecourt shooting death of David Beauchesne – Obituary
On December 7, 2024, 44-year-old David Beauchesne, a Whitecourt resident, was tragically killed in a shooting near the Whitecourt Airport in Woodlands County, Alberta. Authorities responded to the incident after receiving a report at 3:21 p.m.
According to Alberta RCMP, the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Mathew Charles Jackson of Whitecourt, was detained shortly after the incident. Police intercepted his vehicle on Highway 43 and recovered a firearm. Emergency services confirmed Beauchesne’s death at the scene.
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation. Officials stated the incident occurred close to, but not at, the Whitecourt Airport. Police believe there are no other suspects involved.
Jackson has been charged with second-degree murder and remains in custody. His case is scheduled for a hearing at the Alberta Court of Justice in Whitecourt on December 10.
