An 86-year-old woman, Dorothy I. Desbiens of Middle Smithfield Township, lost her life on Thursday evening following a multi-vehicle collision. According to authorities, Desbiens’ car veered off the road, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided with multiple vehicles.
The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on the 400 block of Resica Fall Road. Desbiens was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem, where she was pronounced dead just after 5:50 p.m. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office determined that she died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. The incident has been ruled accidental by Coroner Daniel A. Buglio.
Details about other possible injuries from the collision have not yet been confirmed. Trooper Anthony Petroski III, public information officer for Pennsylvania State Police Troop N, stated that no additional information was available as of Friday morning.
The crash remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police in Stroudsburg and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
