Fatal San Ignacio Town shooting death of Howard Ramirez – Obituary
On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, 17-year-old Howard Ramirez, a resident of San Ignacio Town, Cayo District, lost his life during an alleged burglary in the Boiton area of the town. The incident occurred at a property owned by 44-year-old Juan Gonzalez.
Reports indicate that shortly after 8:00 a.m., Ramirez reportedly broke into a storage container on Gonzalez’s property. Upon arriving at the scene, Gonzalez confronted the teen and inquired about his presence. Ramirez allegedly advanced toward Gonzalez wielding a piece of wood. In response, Gonzalez fired a single shot with his licensed firearm.
After being struck, Ramirez attempted to flee but collapsed approximately 40 feet away from the storage container. He was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital, where he was declared deceased.
Authorities are consulting with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to determine whether Gonzalez will face charges or if the incident will be ruled as self-defense.
