Fatal Starr car accident death of Shawn Vincent Petty – Obituary

Shawn Vincent Petty, a 50-year-old man from Anderson County, tragically died Saturday afternoon after a car fell on him while he was working on it at his home in Starr. According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, the vehicle was supported by a jack, which failed and caused the car to fall on Petty.

 

Petty’s friends and family attempted to remove him from under the vehicle before first responders arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force chest trauma and traumatic asphyxiation. The manner of death was ruled accidental, and the investigation is ongoing.
