Gabriel Rodriguez, 44, lost his life after being shot during an altercation at a midtown apartment complex in Tucson on Sunday afternoon.
Police reported that Rodriguez became involved in a dispute with a resident at the complex, which tragically escalated into a fatal shooting. Authorities were alerted to the incident through multiple 911 calls shortly after 1:40 p.m.
Following the shooting, News 4 Tucson’s Chief Investigative Reporter, Chorus Nylander, visited the complex and observed a unit with a boarded-up window. While an emotional woman at the apartment declined to comment, police did not confirm if the residence was connected to the crime.
Neighbors expressed fear and concern in the wake of the incident. Henry Barboa, who lives nearby, recounted the chaotic scene as police arrived, armed and swiftly entering the premises. He described the event as unsettling, especially upon learning of its deadly nature.
Another resident, Cynthia Chichester, who recently moved to the area, shared her distress. Citing safety concerns for her two young children, she expressed plans to relocate.
As of now, no arrests have been made. The case remains under investigation by Tucson Police and the Pima County Attorney’s Office.
