Fatal Bedminster crash deaths of Gerald Lapat and Deborah Yacovella – Obituary
Gerald Lapat, 75, and his wife Deborah Yacovella, 79, tragically lost their lives in a deadly crash on Route 611 in Bedminster Township on November 15. The couple, from Upper Black Eddy, were involved in a fiery incident when Lapat’s Tesla struck an unoccupied parked car and then a building, causing the vehicle to catch fire.
The Bucks County Coroner’s Office confirmed their identities through DNA testing and forensic dental examination due to the severity of the burns sustained in the fire. The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. when Lapat was driving.
Gerald and Deborah, both active in supporting environmental causes and community organizations, will be remembered at a memorial luncheon on December 6, 2024, at the Joseph Ambler Inn in North Wales. Deborah Yacovella, a retired Merck employee, and Gerald Lapat, a self-employed artist, are survived by family and friends who will honor their memory during this emotional event. Memorial donations may be made to the Bucks County SPCA or local animal shelters.
