Fatal Bellevue boating accident death of Mitchell Thomson, Nicholas Thomson, and Kirk Stout Sr. – Obituary

Authorities have confirmed the identities of three individuals who tragically lost their lives in a boating incident on the Mississippi River near Bellevue, Iowa. The victims, Mitchell Thomson, 30, of Stanwood, Iowa; Nicholas Thomson, 40, of Tipton, Iowa; and Kirk Stout Sr., 61, of Marion, Iowa, were fishing when their boat capsized on Sunday morning. The accident occurred around 11 a.m. beneath Lock and Dam No. 12 in a restricted area of the river.

 

Rescue teams recovered the men from the water. Two of the victims were declared dead at the scene, while the third was transported to MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
