Fatal Newberry County fire death of Ricardo Dentel Dewalt – Obituary

Newberry County authorities have identified Ricardo Dentel Dewalt, 31, of Silverstreet, South Carolina, as the individual who perished in a house fire on Sunday, December 8.

Emergency responders were dispatched to 909 Green Acres in Silverstreet at approximately 2 p.m. following reports of a fire. Investigators revealed that the incident began with a dispute between the homeowner and Dewalt, which escalated into Dewalt stabbing the homeowner.

After the altercation, Dewalt retreated into the residence, and a fire subsequently ignited. Firefighters later extinguished the blaze and discovered Dewalt’s body inside the home.

The homeowner was transported to a nearby hospital by emergency medical services and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

An autopsy has been scheduled for later this week to determine the official cause of Dewalt’s death.
