Fatal east Indianapolis shooting death of Walter Lockhart Jr. – Obituary

On December 9, 2024, 26-year-old Walter Lockhart Jr. was killed in a shooting incident at an apartment complex in Indianapolis. The shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 4400 block of East Washington Street, near North Sherman Drive. Officers arrived to find Lockhart and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were rushed to the hospital, but Lockhart was pronounced dead shortly after. The woman remains in critical condition. Police believe the shooting followed an argument, and three individuals have been taken into custody. Authorities emphasized that there was no ongoing threat to the public, and they are continuing their investigation into the incident.
