Nasser Chidiac, 50, a beloved math teacher at Tempe High School, tragically passed away in a wrong-way crash on Loop 202 near Recker Road in Mesa on Saturday, December 7, 2024. According to authorities, the crash occurred around 11 p.m. when a 23-year-old man was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with Chidiac’s vehicle. A passenger in Chidiac’s car was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital, while the wrong-way driver also sustained serious injuries. Chidiac, who had been teaching at Tempe High School for three years, will be deeply missed by students and staff alike. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether impairment played a role in the crash. No charges have been filed against the wrong-way driver.
