Lower Merion Township home invasion death of Andrew Gaudio – Obituary

Authorities in Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania, have apprehended Charles Fulforth, 41, of Jenkintown, in connection with a violent home invasion that claimed the life of 25-year-old Andrew Gaudio and left his mother, 61-year-old Bernadette Gaudio, severely injured. A second suspect, Kelvin Roberts, 42, of Philadelphia, remains at large.

The incident unfolded early Sunday morning around 2:20 a.m. at a residence on Meredith Road. According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Bernadette Gaudio was asleep in her bedroom when one of the intruders shot her without provocation. Her son, Andrew, attempted to intervene but was fatally shot during the encounter.

DA Kevin Steele revealed that Bernadette, who was bedridden due to a leg injury, managed to use Siri on her phone to contact 911 despite being immobilized after the attack. Steele commended her bravery, noting that the suspects were still in the house when she made the call.

A white Hyundai Azera allegedly driven by Roberts was seen fleeing the scene on police dashcam footage. The victim’s green Jeep Cherokee was also taken from the property. Investigators tracked the Hyundai to a location on Sansom Street in Philadelphia, where they recovered the stolen Jeep and Bernadette’s jewelry box during a search.

Fulforth was later arrested without incident after being linked to the crime through cellphone records and other evidence. He now faces charges including second-degree murder and robbery.

Meanwhile, Roberts, described as dangerous, is still being sought by law enforcement. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.

Bernadette remains hospitalized and is paralyzed but showing signs of progress in her recovery. “She has shown incredible courage through this ordeal,” said Steele, adding that her condition is improving incrementally.

Anyone with information about Kelvin Roberts is urged to contact the Lower Merion Police Department at 610-278-3386 or Montgomery County Detectives at the same number.
