Fatal DeSoto, Texas shooting death of Arthur Lee Armstrong, Jr. – Obituary.

On December 13, 2024, 26-year-old Arthur Lee Armstrong, Jr. was fatally shot in an officer-involved incident in DeSoto, Texas. Police responded to a 911 hang-up call from a residence on Hunter’s Creek Drive, where Armstrong was reported to be armed and threatening harm.

 

When officers arrived, Armstrong, wielding knives in both hands, aggressively approached them and ignored repeated commands to drop his weapons. As he advanced, one officer discharged a single shot from a patrol rifle, striking Armstrong in the chest. Officers rendered aid immediately, and Armstrong was transported to Central Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

 

The DeSoto Police Department requested the Grand Prairie Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Public Integrity Unit to conduct independent investigations into the incident. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave per departmental policy.

 

A press conference is scheduled for December 16, 2024, to provide further updates on the ongoing investigation.
