Fatal Covington garbage truck crash death of Benjamin Bonura – Obituary
Benjamin Bonura, 26, of Amite, Louisiana, lost his life early Friday morning, December 13, in a tragic crash involving a garbage truck on Lee Road in Covington.
Louisiana State Police reported that Bonura was working as a sanitation hopper on the back of a 2020 International garbage truck when a 2024 Hyundai Elantra collided with the back of the truck. The impact pinned Bonura between the two vehicles.
The crash occurred shortly after 6 a.m. Bonura was transported to the hospital with severe injuries but later succumbed to them. The driver of the garbage truck was unharmed, while the driver of the Hyundai sustained moderate injuries and was also hospitalized.
The incident remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police.
