Fatal Rochester, NY shooting death of Zhymar Thacker – Obituary
Early Sunday morning on Emerson Street in Rochester, 22-year-old Zhymar Thacker was killed during an alleged home invasion. Police reported that Thacker and several others forced their way into a home occupied by a family of seven, including two adults and five children aged between 7 months and 13 years.
The family, who had moved into the residence just a day earlier, were awakened by the noise of the break-in. One of the adult residents retrieved a handgun from a nearby room and confronted Thacker as he attempted to reach the second floor.
A gunfire exchange occurred, resulting in Thacker being fatally shot. The resident also suffered a gunshot wound but was treated at a local hospital and has since been discharged. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
