Fatal discovery in the Mississippi River: Daniel Claeys identified as deceased victim – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed that human remains found in a pickup truck submerged in the Mississippi River belong to Daniel Claeys, a missing Illinois man in his early 30s. The discovery was made three months ago near a boat ramp, according to East Moline Police.
The truck, reported stolen in 2017, contained Claeys’s remains and marked the end of a search that began when he was reported missing in 2019. Chief Jeff Ramsey of the East Moline Police Department stated the case is being treated as a homicide, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Claeys’s family has been notified, giving them some closure after years of uncertainty. However, law enforcement continues to seek answers regarding the circumstances of his death. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
