Fatal Wichita Riverside area shooting death of David Hernandez-Cervantez – Obituary.
David Hernandez-Cervantez, 19, of Wichita, Kansas, succumbed to injuries sustained during a shooting early Saturday morning near Sims Park.
Wichita Police responded to the incident around 12:30 a.m. and found Hernandez-Cervantez and a 22-year-old man with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to the hospital, where Hernandez-Cervantez later passed away. The second victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
A 16-year-old male, identified as a suspect, was arrested on Saturday for second-degree murder. Authorities revealed that the victims and the suspect were acquainted, and the altercation appears to have been personal, reportedly involving a dispute over a woman.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
