Zayde Keohohou dies in fatal Newbury Park assault
Fatal Newbury Park attack death of Zayde Keohohou – Obituary.
Fifteen-year-old Zayde Keohohou was tragically killed Thursday night in a violent incident at a residence on Jeanne Court, Newbury Park, California. Authorities identified the suspect as his older brother, 24-year-old Zuberi Sharp, who was arrested shortly after the attack.
According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Keohohou suffered blunt force trauma to the head in an assault that occurred around 8 p.m. Although the exact weapon remains undetermined, officials believe an ax may have been used. Keohohou succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
Sharp was apprehended on the football field of Newbury Park High School, located about half a mile from the scene. Witnesses reported that Sharp was naked at the time of his arrest, which occurred during evening activities on campus. Students and attendees were temporarily locked down as law enforcement secured the area.
The family of the victim expressed gratitude for the support they have received, stating, “We appreciate the outpouring of love, aloha, support, and prayers from friends, ohanas, and this wonderful community.” A GoFundMe page has been established to assist with funeral expenses.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, and detectives are continuing their investigation. Authorities have requested any video footage of Sharp fleeing the scene or being taken into custody.
This tragedy is further compounded by the family’s history of violence. Sharp’s father, Calvin Sharp, is serving a life sentence for the brutal 2007 murder of a 6-year-old boy in Newbury Park. It was confirmed that the brothers have different fathers, with Zuberi being Calvin Sharp’s son.
The community remains shocked by this devastating event as investigations continue.
