On Saturday, James and a 10-year-old boy were shot while inside a vehicle at North Acadian Thruway and Fairfields Avenue. Both victims were taken to the hospital, but James passed away from his injuries later that afternoon. The violence continued later on Saturday evening at a Christmas parade in downtown Baton Rouge, where one person was shot, and another injured by an ATV attempting to flee the scene. Police have not disclosed further information about suspects or arrests in connection with this incident.
