Jill Van Dyke, 51, of Lynnville, lost her life in a tragic collision in Jasper County, Iowa, on Saturday afternoon, as reported by the Iowa State Patrol.
The accident occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of Highway T-22. Authorities stated that a box truck veered across the centerline, striking a pickup truck head-on.
Van Dyke, a passenger in the pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was transported to MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines for treatment, though their condition was not immediately available as of Sunday morning.
The box truck driver was uninjured in the crash. At this time, it remains unclear if charges will be brought forward. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
