Joe Rodriguez, 34, tragically died in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Weslaco. The accident took place around 9:20 a.m. on Mile 7 N. West of Milanos.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Rodriguez was driving a Honda CRV eastbound when he lost control. The vehicle veered off the road, then back onto the roadway before skidding south and colliding with a pole and a tree.
Rodriguez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that he did not get ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
