Fatal Sumter County car crash death of Monica Wright – Obituary
A tragic accident early Sunday morning claimed the life of 48-year-old Monica Wright, a resident of Columbia, South Carolina. According to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. near U.S. Highway 378 (Broad Street) and State Highway 261 South (S. Kings Highway).
Corporal Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the collision involved a 2001 Ford sedan and a 2015 Dodge pickup truck. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Broad Street when they collided. The driver of the Ford sedan sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Monica Wright, who was driving the Dodge pickup truck, died at the scene.
The coroner’s office confirmed that an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston as part of the ongoing investigation.
