MyAngel Walker dies in fatal South Carolina shooting

MyAngel Walker dies in fatal South Carolina shooting

Fatal South Carolina shooting death of MyAngel Walker – Obituary

A tragic incident unfolded in Laurens County, South Carolina, when 18-year-old MyAngel Walker was found dead in a burned car after she went missing on December 12, 2024.

Her family became concerned after she failed to show up for work, leading them to report her disappearance to local authorities. Walker had last been seen in Clinton, prompting both the Laurens Police and Clinton Police Departments to investigate.

The search intensified, and the following day, Walker’s body was discovered in a vehicle set ablaze near McKenzie Road in Greenwood County. Law enforcement confirmed that she had been shot, though additional details about the wound and cause of death have not been released.

Authorities quickly arrested 19-year-old Malachi Pressley, who was identified as Walker’s on-and-off boyfriend. Police said Pressley shot Walker in Clinton late on December 11, and he now faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Also taken into custody was 19-year-old Taylor Kinard, accused of assisting in the disposal of Walker’s body. Kinard has been charged with accessory after the fact.

Both Pressley and Kinard were denied bail during a court hearing on December 14. Walker, a recent high school graduate, had dreams of becoming a nurse, according to her family.

Laurens Police Chief Heath Copeland described Walker as a bright and kind young woman, expressing relief that justice was swiftly served.

Walker’s mother, Sade Woodruff, expressed profound grief over her daughter’s loss, sharing a heartfelt message for others: “Be aware of who you’re dealing with, the people you’re surrounded by,” she urged. She also encouraged anyone facing domestic issues to seek help.
