Fatal Lubbock car crash death of Samantha Alwan – Obituary
Samantha Alwan, 29, a dedicated firefighter from Plainview, tragically died in a head-on collision early Sunday morning on Interstate 27 in Lubbock. The crash occurred at approximately 6 a.m. near County Road 5100.
Authorities reported that a 2014 Ford Escape, driven by a male motorist traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, collided head-on with Alwan’s 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Following the collision, the Ford Escape caught fire. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that Alwan was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The identity of the male driver has not yet been released, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Alwan is remembered for her service as a firefighter and for her contributions to the Plainview community.
