Fatal Central Point motorcycle crash death of Chalino Tellez Cortez – Obituary

Chalino Tellez Cortez, a 19-year-old motorcyclist from Phoenix, Oregon, was killed in a crash on Interstate 5 in Central Point on Friday morning, according to Oregon State Police.

The incident occurred just before 11 a.m. when Tellez Cortez was riding a Suzuki GSX-R1000 northbound at high speed. A Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy reportedly spotted the speeding motorcyclist and attempted a traffic stop. However, Tellez Cortez did not pull over.

Shortly after, the motorcycle collided with the trailer of a semi-truck. Tellez Cortez died at the scene, while the semi-truck driver escaped unharmed.

Authorities said the crash caused traffic delays on the freeway, with the area impacted for approximately two hours as officials responded to the incident.
