Sheri Lynn Schoenfield dies in fatal Lansing crash

Fatal Lansing crash death of Sheri Lynn Schoenfield – Obituary

Sheri Lynn Schoenfield, 62, of Fowlerville, was identified as the victim of a tragic crash on Saturday morning, according to the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred on December 14 around 11:40 a.m. on Elm Road, between Holt and Van Orden in Leroy Township. Schoenfield, who had been driving northbound with an unidentified passenger, stopped suddenly to avoid hitting a deer crossing the road. She then got out of the vehicle to adjust belongings that had shifted in the back of the van.

A 44-year-old woman from Webberville, along with her daughter, was driving in the opposite direction when they swerved to avoid hitting the stopped vehicle but accidentally struck Schoenfield.

Despite CPR and life-saving efforts from emergency responders, Schoenfield was pronounced dead while being transported in the ambulance. The other driver and her daughter were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators report rt that both Schoenfield and the oncoming vehicle may have attempted evasive maneuvers to prevent a collision.
