Cesar Reyes II, 26, a former Riverside County probation corrections officer, was fatally shot during a standoff with law enforcement in Las Vegas on December 8, 2024.
The incident unfolded at the South Point resort after Reyes, who had left a suicide note at his home in Indio, was found barricaded in his hotel room. After failed attempts to contact him, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s SWAT team was deployed. Following several hours of negotiations, Reyes exited the room armed with a shotgun and attempted to flee, ignoring commands to surrender. The standoff ended when a SWAT officer fatally shot Reyes.
Reyes had been placed on administrative leave on December 6, 2024, following his arrest on charges related to obscene material involving a minor.
