Fatal Doswell car crash death of Michael Purtell – Obituary
Michael Purtell, a 61-year-old resident of the Partlow area in Spotsylvania County, lost his life in a two-vehicle collision on Washington Highway in Doswell, Virginia, on Tuesday morning, December 17.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:39 a.m. in the 16300 block of Washington Highway. According to the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Purtell was driving a 2010 Honda Civic southbound when his vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2018 Ford F450 traveling in the opposite direction.
Purtell was pronounced dead at the scene by Hanover Fire and EMS. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination.
The driver and passenger of the Ford F450 sustained minor injuries and were transported to VCU Medical Center for treatment.
The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
