Bentley dies in fatal Mooroopna car incident
Fatal Mooroopna car death of Bentley, 10 – Obituary
Bentley, a 10-year-old boy from northern Victoria, tragically passed away after becoming trapped inside the boot of a car while playing hide and seek with friends. The incident occurred on Sunday, December 15, in Mooroopna, near Shepparton, around 3:20 pm, as temperatures reached 35°C.
Bentley, who was neurodiverse, reportedly grabbed the keys to the car and locked himself inside the boot. It is unclear how long he was trapped before his mother found him unresponsive. Despite efforts to revive him, he could not be saved and was later confirmed to have suffered a cardiac arrest. The tragedy was witnessed by other children who had been playing nearby.
Remembered fondly for his love of adventures and his inquisitive nature, Bentley’s family is mourning the loss of their “car-loving” and “Minecraft enthusiastic” son.
His passing comes only two weeks after the family suffered the loss of his grandmother. Police have stated that they are not treating the death as suspicious, though a report will be prepared for the coroner.
