Fatal Springfield shooting death of Jose Lopez – Obituary
48-year-old Jose Lopez was fatally shot in Springfield on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
Springfield Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation on Fernwold Street near Baldwin Street shortly after 4:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found Lopez with gunshot wounds. He was transported to Baystate Medical Center but later died from his injuries.
The Springfield Police homicide unit and the Hampden District Attorney’s murder unit are conducting an investigation into the shooting. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
