Fatal La Palma crash death of Marianne Casey – Obituary
67-year-old Marianne Casey tragically died after a violent crash at the end of a police pursuit in La Palma on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
The incident began around 12:40 p.m. when police initiated a chase of a theft suspect, who had fled the scene in a white Nissan Rogue. The pursuit, which continued across multiple areas including the Riverside Freeway and Knox Avenue, ended when the suspect crashed into Casey’s BMW at La Palma Avenue and Moody Street. Casey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two men and a woman were injured in the crash and taken to a hospital for treatment. The suspect, 43-year-old Anthony Hanzal of Anaheim, was among those injured and was arrested following the crash.
Hanzal, with a history of criminal charges, remains in custody at the Orange County Jail.
