Fatal Tyler crash death of William and Shirley Connerly – Obituary
William Connerly, 82, and Shirley Connerly, 79, both of Kerens, Texas, tragically passed away following a five-vehicle crash in Tyler on December 17, 2024. The incident occurred in the 200 block of SSW Loop 323, between Front Street and West Elm Street, at approximately 1:43 p.m.
According to the Tyler Police Department, a GMC SUV, traveling on West Elm Street, attempted to make a left turn onto the SSW Loop but collided with a southbound semi. The force of the crash sent both the SUV and the semi into the northbound lanes, striking three other vehicles in the process. William and Shirley Connerly, occupants of the GMC, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two individuals, the driver of the semi and another driver, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The roadway was cleared and reopened following the investigation. Authorities are continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
