Dante Treggs dies in fiery car crash in West Covina, California

Fatal West Covina crash claims the life of Dante Treggs – Obituary

Dante Treggs, 35, was identified as one of the victims in a fatal, single-vehicle crash that occurred early Saturday morning on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in West Covina. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed his identity, though it remains unclear whether he was the driver or a passenger.

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. near the Barranca Avenue on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 2021 Honda sedan veered off the road, struck a guardrail, collided with a concrete slab, and slammed into the metal pole of an overhead freeway sign before catching fire. Both the driver and the front passenger were killed inside the vehicle.

Authorities have not determined why the car left the roadway. It is also unknown if there were additional occupants in the vehicle.

The westbound on-ramp was temporarily closed following the incident, with a SigAlert issued at 5:50 a.m. The on-ramp reopened by 9 a.m. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
