Jill Burnham dies in fatal Cass County, Minnesota vehicle-pedestrian accident
Fatal vehicle-pedestrian crash in Cass County claims the life of Jill Burnham – Obituary.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has identified 34-year-old Jill Burnham of Brainerd, Minnesota, as the victim in a tragic accident on December 14.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:56 PM on Gull Lake Dam Road near Poplar Drive in East Gull Lake. According to Sheriff Bryan Welk, a westbound 2023 Ford Bronco lost control on an icy roadway while slowing for a pickup truck parked in the same lane. The pickup’s driver was speaking with Burnham, who was walking along the road when the Bronco struck her.
Emergency responders treated Burnham at the scene before transporting her to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries the following day, December 15.
The Bronco’s driver, a 54-year-old man, provided a blood sample on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Pending toxicology results, formal charges may follow.
Multiple agencies, including the Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Nisswa Police Department, Lakes Area Rescue, and North Memorial Ambulance, assisted at the scene.
