Fatal Cayce pedestrian accident death of Joyce P. Backman – Obituary.

Joyce P. Backman, a 91-year-old resident of Cayce, South Carolina, passed away following a tragic accident on Charleston Highway on December 18, 2024. Backman was involved in an initial two-vehicle collision around 6:03 p.m. As she and another driver exited their vehicles, she was struck by a third vehicle.

 

Backman was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after the incident. The other pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized. The driver of the third vehicle was unharmed and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.

 

The City of Cayce Police Department and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office are actively investigating the circumstances of the crash.
