Authorities in Lincoln, Nebraska, have identified 20-year-old Johnathan McCray as the victim of a tragic shooting early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred outside an apartment complex near 14th and Superior Streets at around 12:30 a.m.
McCray was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. According to Capt. Ben Miller, the shooting was unintentional, with McCray being mistakenly shot by his 16-year-old brother as he approached the building.
The teen has been charged with manslaughter and the use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. Police have since recovered the firearm involved in the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Lincoln Police or Crime Stoppers.
