Fatal San Antonio shooting death of Karen Martinez – Obituary
Police have identified 30-year-old Karen Martinez as the woman who was shot by officers after allegedly threatening them with a knife. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Monday at a residence off Loma Park Drive near Culebra Road, located on the West Side of the city.
According to authorities, Martinez arrived at her ex-boyfriend’s house and made threats to harm everyone inside. As the situation escalated, she reportedly made suicidal remarks and claimed she was carrying a gun. Officers deployed a Taser, but it was unsuccessful in subduing her. Martinez then allegedly advanced toward the officers, prompting one of them, Officer Andrew Davis, to fire his weapon. Martinez was quickly transported to the hospital and underwent surgery, but she later died from her injuries. Officer Davis, who has been with the department for three years, has been placed on administrative leave while an investigation into the incident is conducted.
