On December 22, 2024, a fatal crash on I-90 near Laurel claimed the life of 56-year-old Kevin Raymond Wilkerson.
Wilkerson was driving a Chevrolet Suburban when a semi-truck, traveling west, crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided with his vehicle. Despite being struck, Wilkerson was the only fatality in the crash. His passengers included a 45-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl, both of whom were injured, while an 18-year-old man was unhurt. The truck, which had also hit a Volkswagen Rabbit, came to a stop in the eastbound lanes after the collision.
Authorities have determined that the cause of the crash remains under investigation, with no evidence suggesting alcohol, drugs, or speed as contributing factors. Wilkerson’s family is now mourning his loss, and the community has come together to offer support.
