Fatal Winston-Salem shooting death of Rashard Brooks – Obituary
A 37-year-old man, Rashard Brooks, was fatally shot during an altercation inside an East 15th Street apartment in Winston-Salem early Saturday morning.
Police responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m. and found Brooks deceased inside the apartment from a gunshot wound. A second man, who sustained multiple gunshot injuries, was discovered outside the apartment. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Investigators revealed that Brooks and the other victim were involved in a physical altercation with the shooter, who was known to them. During the confrontation, the suspect opened fire, resulting in the death of Brooks and severe injuries to the other man.
