Fatal Pasco wrong-way car crash deaths of Rodrigo Torres-Gonzalez and Guadalupe Vergara Gonzalez – Obituary

Rodrigo Torres-Gonzalez, 42, and Guadalupe Vergara Gonzalez, 39, tragically lost their lives in a wrong-way collision on Interstate 182 in Pasco, Washington. The crash occurred on the evening of December 27, 2024, and also involved two young children, one of whom, a 22-month-old boy, was pronounced dead at the scene alongside Vergara Gonzalez.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Torres-Gonzalez was driving a 2014 Honda Civic westbound on I-182 when a 2020 Ford Mustang, traveling the wrong way in the westbound lanes, struck the vehicle head-on. The wrong-way driver, a 37-year-old male, sustained minor injuries and is in custody on suspicion of DUI and vehicular homicide.

The crash left a 6-year-old boy in serious condition, and he was airlifted to receive medical care. Torres-Gonzalez was transported to the hospital, and his condition is currently unknown.

Authorities believe the wrong-way driver entered the interstate at 20th Avenue. The collision led to the closure of westbound I-182, with traffic redirected to southbound SR 397. The investigation remains ongoing, and charges are pending for the driver responsible.

This heartbreaking incident has shaken the Pasco community as the families mourn their loved ones.
