Fatal South Bay wrong-way crash death of Damion Jones – Obituary

Damion Jones, 24, of South Bay, tragically lost his life early Sunday morning in a fiery collision on U.S. 27 near Clewiston. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 2:35 a.m. when a 2017 Ford Van traveling north in the southbound lanes collided with a 2023 Chevy Suburban driven by Jones.

Neither driver attempted to avoid the collision, leading to a violent impact. The Ford Van rotated and caught fire after coming to a stop in a northbound lane, while the Chevy Suburban ended up in the grass median. Jones and the unidentified driver of the Ford were pronounced dead at the scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

Three passengers in Jones’ vehicle were transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center. One passenger, an unidentified male, remains in critical condition. The other two, Alt’Lecia Johnson, 23, of South Bay, and Fa’Quandria Nation, 24, of West Palm Beach, are reported to be in serious condition.

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the factors leading to the crash.
