Fatal Conspicuous Beach drowning deaths of Dr. Mohamed Swapan and Sabrina Ahmed – Obituary

Dr. Mohamed Swapan, 44, and his wife, Sabrina Ahmed, 40, lost their lives while attempting to save their daughters from a rip current at Conspicuous Beach near Walpole, Western Australia, on December 28, 2024.

 

The tragic incident occurred when their two daughters became caught in a dangerous rip current. The couple rushed into the water to rescue them but encountered difficulties themselves. Emergency services were alerted to three individuals in distress. While their daughters survived the ordeal, efforts to revive Dr. Swapan and Ahmed were unsuccessful.

 

Another 42-year-old man was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital by St. John Ambulance. A coroner’s report will be prepared regarding the couple’s deaths.

 

Dr. Swapan and Ahmed were well-known and cherished members of Perth’s Bangladeshi community, and their passing has left a profound void. Friends, colleagues, and community members have expressed an outpouring of grief and condolences.

 

This tragedy comes amidst a series of drownings across Australia during the festive season, prompting authorities to urge beachgoers to prioritize safety and swim at patrolled locations.
