James Wood dies in fatal Ogden DUI collision
Fatal Ogden DUI collision death of James Wood – Obituary
James Wood, a longtime Ogden resident, tragically lost his life Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk. The incident occurred when a Honda, stopped at a traffic light, was rear-ended by a Dodge Ram driven by Tyson Bryce Treasure, 26. The impact forced the Honda into the crosswalk, where Wood was crossing with his dog.
Treasure, allegedly impaired, had fled from a hospital detox program and evaded police multiple times before the crash. After striking the Honda, Treasure fled the scene but was later apprehended following another collision that severely injured another driver.
Wood, 5:30 p.m. to walk his dog, was pronounced dead at the scene. His dog miraculously found its way home. Wood is survived by his disabled wife and a large family.
A fundraising campaign has been established to support Wood’s family, particularly his wife. As of Sunday morning, it had raised nearly $4,000.
Treasure faces charges, including automobile homicide and other felonies, as police continue their investigation.
