Fatal Fairdale crash death of Keayland McKune – Obituary
Keayland McKune, a 14-year-old from Louisville, Kentucky, was tragically killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning, December 28, 2024, in Fairdale. The incident occurred around 3:50 a.m. in the 10300 block of National Turnpike.
According to Louisville Metro Police, officers spotted a vehicle with two occupants that had been reported stolen near the Jefferson County line. When police attempted a traffic stop, the driver sped off dangerously. Officers discontinued their pursuit but soon noticed sparks down the road in the direction the vehicle had fled.
The overturned vehicle was discovered a short distance away. Keayland McKune was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force injuries. Another teenage occupant of the vehicle was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Investigators are still working to identify who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. The Louisville Metro Police Traffic Unit is handling the ongoing investigation.
