Roger Martin Genung, 65, of Aberdeen, South Dakota, was fatally injured in a vehicle-bicycle crash that occurred on Thursday evening, December 26, 2024. The incident happened around 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of North Lincoln Street and 2nd Avenue NE.
The crash involved a 2005 Ford F150 driven by Brandon Ellen Smith, 45, also of Aberdeen. Smith was traveling west on 2nd Avenue NE when his vehicle struck Genung, who was riding a bicycle on the road’s shoulder. Smith was not injured in the incident and was not wearing a seat belt. Authorities have indicated that charges against Smith are pending as the investigation progresses.
