Williams Herrera Ortega, a 29-year-old resident of Bethesda, Maryland, has been identified as the man who lost his life in a tragic accident on U.S. Highway 40 in Fraser on December 26. Ortega was a passenger in a Toyota Tundra that lost control and spun into oncoming traffic, where it was struck by a semitruck on the passenger side.
Four other individuals in the Tundra, including the driver, sustained significant injuries in the collision. Three of them were taken to local hospitals, while one was transferred to a medical facility in the Denver area.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash, though they have ruled out drugs and alcohol as contributing factors. The Grand County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy to determine Ortega’s exact cause of death.
