Two lives were lost, and another person was critically injured in a tragic single-car accident in Raynham, Massachusetts, late Monday evening.
The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. when a 2017 Hyundai Elantra veered off East Britannia Street, became airborne, and collided with a tree, according to police reports.
Authorities revealed that 26-year-old Averi Costa-Burton of Fall River, who was driving the vehicle, was thrown from the car upon impact. He was transported to Morton Hospital in Taunton, where he succumbed to his injuries.
One passenger, 28-year-old Dorryn Robinson of New Bedford, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger, a 25-year-old man from Fall River, sustained life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence for emergency treatment. Police noted that the injured man was seated in the back of the vehicle at the time of the collision.
The Raynham Police Department is collaborating with the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office to determine the cause of the accident. Further details are unavailable as the investigation continues.
